Why do we believe what we believe?

People will defend what they believe. And if challenged, some will quickly find holes in the other person’s beliefs but less likely to consider weaknesses in our own beliefs. Choosing and paying attention only to information that supports what we believe just makes it stronger but what if we are wrong? Judging and blaming others that don’t match to our belief system does not help either. So, do people change or evolve around beliefs and if not how can this affect you at work and your professional career?
