Why is profiling a good or bad thing?

Imagine you are this person who someone thinks you are a medical doctor, another asks if you are a landscaper (need to note there is nothing wrong being in the landscaping industry), at a hotel lobby a guest orders you to get his bags, a different person asks if you are an university professor and an airline employee says you needed to be in the economy lane vs. first class while you hold a first class ticket. You are still the same person and no we are not talking about someone asking if you work at the supermarket. So, if you experienced all of this and more, honestly, what is the cost of profiling?
