How true is it that opposites attract?

If you ever hired anyone, how much similar was the person compared to you? Also, think of your friends, those who you choose to spend time with, more than likely they are not opposite to you so why do some say that opposites attract? Well, generally speaking opposites do not attract – actually – most people tend to gravitate towards the same type of personalities. So perhaps it is what others do and not who they are that is the attraction – what do you think and why should this matter?
