A retired general once said that in the military there are many leaders but in war you need competent leaders. Similarly, in business there are countless leaders but in a crisis you need the same thing – competent leaders. The idea is not to judge as some leaders experience paralysis when facing a crisis for example so it is what it is – however – we cannot afford to allow incompetent leaders to lead when it is obvious they don’t know what they are doing as they will make a crisis worse and not better. So, again, how do you work with an incompetent leader?
